For all you Halo fans...

So I'm really considering writing a Halo story for my scifibigbang  entry.  I would love, love, LOVE to have anyone as an alpha/cheerleader or a beta.

I have two ideas rolling around in my head.  One takes place between Halo:CE and Halo 2...maybe, slightly AU, but I want it to stick pretty close to canon.  MC, Cortana, Johnson and Miranda all take center stage with some friendshippy moments between all of them. 

The other takes place after Halo Orgins and deals with Cortana's fate.  It would have more of a John/Cortana slant, though I don't think I could ever write a straight up romance story with them...it would probably be more like UST or strong friendship. Mendicant Bias and other Forerunner background would be thrown in there too.

The first idea I've got a pretty good idea of the layout of the story...the second one, not so much.

I'm interested!! And I'm absolutely willing to cheerlead and beta for you-- though I've never done beta for a fandom I actually know before, so if you don't mind a bit of fandom inexperience I'm completely game.

Woot! That would be awesome! :D Yeah, I've got some visiting to do at Halopedia before I get really crackin' on the story...gotta get the background right before a layout my Major Outline. (But, still, fandom research is a ton of fun :D)

Cool! I don't know how to do Beta-reading, but your story plots sound exciting!
I've had a big plot bunny hopping around for the fate of MC and Cortana, but I can't start it off yet until I finish reading the Ghosts of Onyx novel.

I've always thought John/Cortana would be sweet, but I agree--they seem more like good strong friends :)

Oh, well, an alpha reader is someone who you can talk to to kind of get the story laid out/toss ideas/get a good kick in the butt to make sure you're writing. A beta is someone who looks at your story when you're done with it and edits it (both grammatically and from a plot POV).

Oh, my OTP, like ever, is John and Cortana. I just can't picture John buying her virtual flowers or Cortana makiing kissy sounds in his comm channel as he's fighting the Flood. (If you look at my Halo icons, you can see how many of them are John/Cortana based...yeah, blame my shippy heart.)

I've only read a few Halo stories that seem to make J/C believable. They are happily bookmarked and have been transferred to my Kindle.

I'm not a huge overt romance writer...my writings all tend to hint at something without full on lovey dovey sweetness. So, if I decide to do the second one, it would definitely be expanding my writing muscles because it would have a John/Cortana-only-we-understand-each-other slant.

I bet you weren't expecting a novel for a response, huh? LOL

John/Cortana is my favourite OTP :) and I don't mind long replies :)
